Shanghai Songjiang Shock Absorber Group Co., Ltd. is proud to share details about the rubber expansion joint contract for the [CGN Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power BOP Civil Engineering and Conventional Island Installation Project]. As a trusted supplier to many nuclear power projects, Songjiang Group provides high-quality flexible rubber expansion joints, composed of premium rubber and flanges, ensuring top-notch product performance. Below is an introduction to this key project and the corresponding contract details.
I. Overview of the CGN Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Project:
The CGN Zhejiang Sanao Nuclear Power Project’s Unit 2 recently completed its turbine foundation concrete pouring, marking the start of the main conventional island construction. The civil engineering of the conventional island is now fully prepared for construction, ensuring synchronized progress of both the turbine foundation and plant framework.
This project plans to install six “Hualong One” units, a third-generation nuclear power technology developed by China. The construction of the first two units began on December 31, 2020, and December 30, 2021, respectively. At present, nearly 95% of equipment procurement has been completed, and construction has entered its peak phase. The “Hualong One” technology, with a design life of 60 years, combines active and passive safety systems, including double-layer containment, meeting the highest international safety standards.
According to Liu Jianyi, Deputy General Manager of CGN Cangnan Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., the project is the first nuclear power unit to start construction in Zhejiang Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan. Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and extreme heat, construction has progressed steadily, with parallel efforts focusing on production readiness, technical preparation, and efficient coordination with all participating units.
Once fully operational, the six units will generate up to 52.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, significantly contributing to the clean energy supply of the Yangtze River Delta region. The project will reduce annual coal consumption by 15.88 million tons and CO₂ emissions by 43.68 million tons, equivalent to afforesting 118,000 hectares. This will support China’s national “dual carbon” strategy and promote regional sustainable development.
